The actor has revealed to Empire that he has attended auditions for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but did not get the role he wanted. However, Redmayne had hoped they would contact him to play one of the brothers of Ron Weasley. “For years I always had the hope that maybe I manage to be a member of the Weasley family, but unfortunately I did not,” he concludes. Finally, fate was not far off and, although it was Christian Coulson who played Tom Riddle, now Redmayne is starring in the prequel to the saga.
