Fantastic Beasts reveals a mystery from Harry Potter

This new saga is not going to be just about Newt Scamander looking for his creatures, it is a plot of the origins.

After knowing that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was going to be a saga of five films, many fans wondered how a manual of fictional creatures could lead to such a long franchise. During the previous weeks, more details have been known and it has been revealed that several characters of the original saga will appear in the prequel, among them are Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. This is reason why it seems that a plot is set.

Screencrush has collected an interesting theory developed by Jackson Bird that could connect Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter and at the same time a theory that solves an unknown of the original saga.

Watch out, following part contains SPOILERS about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!

In the film starring Eddie Redmayne, Porpentina explains what Obscurus is: an uncontrollable dark force that arises when magicians are forced to hide their magic and not use it, something that occurred in the repression of the magical community of North America by the No-Majs. Basically, it’s like an explosion of magic.

Bird’s theory explains that perhaps it is not a concept introduced in Fantastic Beasts, but that is something that they have taken from the history of Harry Potter. The key is that it could be the answer to what happened to Dumbledore’s sister, Ariana. As you recall, Ariana suffered the attack of three muggles while practicing spells in her garden and her father ended up locked in Azkaban after defending her. Unfortunately, he suffered a mental illness throughout his life.

In The Deathly Hallows she explained that she could not use her magic, so she kept it inside and ended up going crazy. This caused uncontrollable magic explosions. The mother of the Dumbledore family died in one of those attacks. Therefore, it is possible that Ariana was a victim of Obscurus.

There is one more reason that connects Newt Scamander’s universe with what we already know. Do you know the name of the publisher that published Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? It is Obscurus Books!
