A Bowtruckle is guardian of trees and immensely difficult to detect in nature. It can be found in west England, southern Germany, and in some Scandinavian forests. A Bowtruckle serves as guardian for trees, usually for those whose woods are used to make magic wands. The branch shaped fingers serve to scratch eyes out an enemy. Usually, she is a peaceful creature, but becomes violent if someone threatens her tree, or even herself. In order to cut down a tree in which there is a Bowtruckle, you need to distract him offering him mealybugs.

According to the book published by Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), the Bowtruckle often become violent when someone tries to cut the tree where they live. Often they throw themselves into the eyes of the invaders and attack them with sharp fingers. What is the solution? Throw mealybugs to them and use the time to collect wood in which they are busy eating the delicious bugs.
