In the Series

In the context of fiction, Beedle book first appeared in the latest episode of the series, Harry Potter and the Hollows of Death, when the will of Albus Dumbledore is revealed. According to the document, the former director school Hogwarts bequeathed a series of objects to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, including a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which was bequeathed to Hermione Granger. The specimen found was a copy of an original edition of the text. It is described as a book looking old, with stained cover that is about to peel off. The book’s title was written on the cover.

Neither Harry nor Hermione had heard earlier about the book in question, because both had been raised in Muggle households, and had no contact with folklore and literature of magic. Community, sons of sorcerers, he mentioned that written by Beedle stories were extremely popular among magician children and surely everyone had heard any of these stories if for no more than another version or revision thereof. The popularity of the anthology of stories resembled tales like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” or “Cinderella”.

Throughout the novel, Hermione was completing the translation of the specimen. This was bequeathed her by Dumbledore with a specific goal: to help the trio of friends on their trip around the country looking for the Horcruxes to defeat Lord Voldemort. One of the stories of the anthology ( “The Tale of the Three Brothers”) contained a distorted story about the origin of the Deathly Hallows, three mysterious objects with unusual powers. When friends came to Xenophilius Lovegood, he helped them to interpret the story and recognize what the three powerful artifacts were. The aim of Dumbledore was to enlight existence of such relics but also of his ambivalence as a double-edged sword.
