Colin James Farrell (born in Castleknock, Ireland, May 31, 1976) is a Golden Globe winner Irish actor. He has taken part on films including Tigerland (2000), Daredevil (2003), Miami Vice (2006), Minority Report ( 2002), Phone Booth (2003), The Recruit (2003), Alexander (2004), SWAT (2003), In Bruges (2008) and Total Recall (2012).


He grew up in Castleknock, Ireland. He is the son and nephew of former soccer players. Eamon Farrell, his father instilled his passion for football, but as a teenager he discovered that his true passion was acting and drama. He joined a dance group that was touring Australia. Upon returning, he enrolled at the Gaiety School of Drama in Dublin, where he studied acting and interpretation with his sister. He was one of the most promising students in Gaiety. And so, he has left the capital of Ireland for London.


His first movie appearances were in The War Zone, Ordinary Decent Criminal, where he worked with Kevin Spacey, and Tigerland, directed by Joel Schumacher and is Colin’s first American movie.

Other films in which he has worked have been Minority Report, Hart’s War, The Recruit and Phone Booth, the director of the latter is Joel Schumacher who went to Farrell for the second time with a new concept where 90% of the film takes place within a phone booth where the protagonist is trapped under threat of a psychopath.

The actor brings Alexander the Great to life in the movie written by Oliver Stone in 2004.

He also had a small cameo in the TV series Scrubs on the role of Billy Callahan in Season 4 Episode 14.

In Cassandra’s Dream of Woody Allen, Farrell and Ewan McGregor play two very different brothers. He subsequently made two films from emerging directors: Pride and Glory and In Bruges. The second, a thriller with touches of black humor, brings Farrell as the winner of a Golden Globe.

In 2009, Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell replaced in the final scenes of Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Heath Ledger has passed away before he could finish his last work.

He reappears in 2015, participating in the second season of the HBO series, True Detective, playing the detective Ray Velcoro. The series has gotten all sorts of criticism, highlighting the performance of Collin.

He will appear as the powerful Auror Percival Graves in the following episode of Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

He married to actress Amelia Warner in July 2001, but their marriage lasted just four months. They have been attributed many rumors: he was linked after the break with Demi Moore and Britney Spears. He also maintained sentimental relations with Playboy girl Nicole Narain, with Paris Hilton and, during the shooting of Alexander the Great, with Angelina Jolie.

He has two children, a son with model Kim Bordenave, James who suffers from a genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome, and another son named Henry Tadeusz with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curus.
